Unit 01
Health and safety management in an organisation
In this unit participants will understand their own responsibilities in relation to health and safety of themselves and others in the organisation.
Participants will also learn about planning and monitoring health and safety performance, and how improvement plans can be used to improve practices.
Assessment
Develop and write a business case to implement an enhanced health and safety management system in an organisation, putting theory into practice in a way relevant to all sectors, organisations and workplaces.
Unit 02
Understanding how to influence a health and safety culture in an organisation
In this unit participants will understand organisational culture and techniques that can help develop a safety culture.
They will also learn about human failure in an organisation and how this can influence a safety culture.
Assessment
Complete a project researching organisational health and safety culture, using primary and secondary research methods to collect data. Produce a report evaluating the existing safety culture and recommending an improvement plan.
Unit 03
Understanding a strategic, business focused approach to health and safety
In this unit participants will understand the main functions and aims of an organisation, and how strategic drivers affect its operation.
They will learn about the impact health and safety practices can have on how an organisation operates, including the added value they can bring.
Assessment
Analyse the main functions and aims of an organisation, including how strategic drivers affect its operation, then develop and deliver a presentation to brief a senior management team.
